What is CSS?

CSS stands for Cascading Style Sheet and is a style sheet language that was primarily designed to allow the markup languages like HTML to separate the content from the presentation. HTML by itself has very limited presentation capability, so something was needed. Most of the popular browsers such as Internet Explorer, Netscape and Chrome have incorporated CSS.

CSS has thus standardized and centralized a mark up language which has dramatically increased the presentation capabilities of HTML and other mark up languages.

You can place CSS mark up code in a separate file and have this file loaded for each website page. So, when you want to make changes to the website presentation, if you've done it right you will only need to make changes in one place.

Most all of the available web hosts, even cheap web and hosting, provide the tools necessary to interpret and process HTML/CSS.
